TOPS Kids' Company

TOPS Kids' Company is the before / after-school & summer program located inside TOPS school. We are a fully licensed childcare program operated by the non-profit organization, Evergreen Children's Association, founded in June 1989. TOPS Kids' Company serves children ages 5-12.

About Our Program

TOPS Kids' Company is a unique childcare enrichment program for children before and after school. We offer a variety of activities for your child including arts and crafts, sports and outdoor games, computers, cooking and life-skills, drama and music, homework and reading help, as well as fun group activities in a safe and nurturing environment. Our daily schedule gives children the opportunity to choose an activity that best suits their individual interests. We also offer quiet activities to help children unwind after their day at school.

Our goal is to provide a place that every child can feel comfortable and welcome. Children are encouraged to develop their own ideas and express their views. As a team our staff work to make sure that each child feels a part of the group and valued as an individual. We like to get to know each family. Through social events and daily interaction, we hope to make TOPS Kids' Company your home-away from home.

Our morning program (7-9 am) offers a pleasant and welcoming environment to help your child start the day. We play games, draw, read, and (weather permitting) play outside. Each day we serve a delicious and nutritious breakfast from 8:00-8:20. The children eat at tables and serve themselves family-style. Throughout the morning the children can participate in a self-directed project. After breakfast, we spend some time as a group, sharing, telling jokes, listening to a story, or playing a group game. The children are allowed (except Kindergarteners) to leave for supervised outdoor play at 8:45.

After school, the children arrive and have the opportunity to choose from several activities including eating a snack, reading, playing a game, and just relaxing with a friend. During this time our staff welcome and check-in with your child. We use this time to be sure that each child has arrived as scheduled. We then have a short group meeting to make announcements, introduce new staff or children, describe the day's activities and play a group game. We dismiss to free choice, where all of the other areas including outside play, Legos, Blocks, Home Center and board games are a choice. Voluntary Homework Club is from 3:50-4:20 Monday-Thursday. Homework Club provides students support in a quiet, small group setting in the school library. At 5:00, we wind down with clean-up and quiet time. We take this time to read to your child, draw or write in a journal, or play a quiet game.

In the TOPS staff room is our 4th, 5th and 6th grade program. This extra space allows us to provide age-appropriate curriculum and activities to our older children. We provide similar activities to that in the main space, however, with more emphasis on self-help and social skill development. This program offers a more focused homework time that is from 5:00-6:00 Monday-Thursday. Our staff plan activities based on the children's ideas while emphasizing team-work and group games. This program begins clean-up at 5:30.

Kids' Company is a safe, secure, fun place for children. We offer a program that will provide your child with lifelong memories of friendships, fun and excitement!
